After a few high level calls.

Ilon Musk has taken a step back in his conflict with US President Donald Trump after several high-level phone calls.

This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.

The Journal's sources said Ilon Musk publicly backed off some of his attacks on President Trump after two phone calls between their teams, including one directly with the head of state.

First, Vice President J.D. Vance and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles urged Musk to mend his relationship with Trump. Sources said that during a phone call last Friday, Vance and Wiles urged Musk to end the public conflict.

On Monday, according to people familiar with the conversation, Trump and Musk spoke by phone for the first time since the scandal.

The WSJ noted that Vance remained in the shadows in the conflict, supporting Trump but refraining from criticizing Musk, allowing him to play the role of "peacemaker." In his role as vice president, Vance combines the roles of player, attacker and problem solver.

The publication also reported that the White House and Musk did not provide immediate comment to reporters' requests. White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said during a briefing Wednesday that the president "paid attention" to Musk's message and expressed gratitude.

The Trump and Musk conflict

The tension between Elon Musk and President Donald Trump moved into the open on June 5.

The conflict came days after the businessman stopped being a close adviser to Trump, signaling the breakup of one of modern America's most powerful political alliances.

The owner of SpaceX and Tesla Inc. called the president's tax-and-spending bill "vile."

Trump expressed frustration with his former adviser and suggested that Musk suffers from "Trump syndrome" and called him crazy.
