Many passengers died.

An Air India plane that crashed in the city of Ahmedabad in India on Thursday, June 12, crashed into a doctors' hostel building, local police said, Indian news agency ANI writes.

Police and other emergency services arrived at the crash site within two to three minutes.

India's health minister confirmed there were casualties in the plane's downing. According to him, "many passengers have died," The Guardian writes.

Indian media earlier wrote that more than 30 people could have died as a result of the passenger plane crash.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner had 242 people on board, including 10 crew members. Among them were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, as well as a Canadian and a Portuguese.
