Trump Assessed The Situation In The Middle East With The Words "something Could Happen"

The US president said the Israelis had "made it clear that a major conflict" with Iran was possible.

Something "could happen" in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump said when asked about a new potential clash between Iran and Israel.

"They (the Israelis. - Note) didn't tell me anything specific, but they made it clear that there could be a major conflict. We have a lot of American military there, and it was my duty to warn them to evacuate because something could happen soon. I wouldn't want to be the one who didn't give any warning and then the rocket fire started. I had an obligation to do that," Trump said.

The head of state said on June 11 that some of the US military is being withdrawn from the Middle East because it is a "dangerous place."

"I don't want to say 'imminent,' but it looks like it could very well happen," the politician also said (quoted by Fox News).

Trump emphasized that the US wants to reach an agreement with Iran and is "pretty close to that." He said he would prefer to negotiate and take a "friendlier approach."

CBS News earlier reported, citing sources, that Israel is ready to launch an operation against Iran and that the U.S. has been notified. Washington expects that Tehran may retaliate against some U.S. facilities in neighboring Iraq. For this reason, the US has begun partial evacuation of personnel from there. As reported by Reuters, we are talking about the partial evacuation of the embassy.
