US Sent Fighter Jets To Jordan To Intercept Iranian Launches

F-15s are equipped with special munitions.

The US Air Force sent a squadron of F-15 fighter jets to Jordan about two weeks ago to intercept Iranian drones and cruise missiles in case of an attack on Israel, US and Israeli officials confirmed. This was reported by "HaAretz".

The same squadron, usually based in the United Kingdom, was previously deployed to Jordan before Iran's first direct strike on Israel last April, and after Israel retaliated after Iran's second attack in October.

This time, the F-15s are equipped with new munitions specifically designed to counter threats from Iranian and Hussite drones. Each aircraft carries dispensers with 21 small interceptor missiles designed to defend against drones, allowing a single aircraft to shoot down dozens of drones in a single sortie.

U.S. officials say the main remaining challenge is detecting drones, which often fly at extremely low altitudes to avoid detection by radar.
