The US president noted that they "did not die of influenza or coronavirus".
People involved in Iranian nuclear deal negotiations with the US have been killed in an Israeli operation. This was reported by CNN correspondent Dana Bash, referring to US President Donald Trump.
President Trump said in a conversation with a CNN reporter that the negotiators he was "dealing with" were dead. The journalist asked the US president to clarify whether the negotiators were killed as a result of Israeli actions. "And he said very sarcastically, they didn't die from the flu, they didn't die from the coronavirus."
In a phone call, Donald Trump called the dead negotiators "hardliners." The US president also praised Israel's actions as "very successful." Dana Bash said he supported the measures taken by the Israeli government.
Iran and the US resumed talks on the nuclear deal in April, five rounds have already taken place, mostly held in Oman and indirect. Iran denies accusations of seeking nuclear weapons and has no intention of giving up uranium enrichment as part of the agreement.
June 13, when Israel launched an operation against Iran, the two-month deadline Trump gave Tehran to strike a new nuclear deal came to an end. President Trump believes that after Israel's attack, Iran has an incentive to reach a deal.
