Ukraine Prepares For Mass Production Of Ballistic Missile Surpassing ATACMS

Ukraine is preparing for mass production of the first domestic ballistic missile. Currently, the country is actively working on setting up mass production of Peregrine missiles.

The Ukrainian head of state Vladimir Zelensky told this during a communication with media representatives, dialog.ua.

According to him, testing of the system was successful earlier, and technical and production capabilities for mass production are currently being developed. The president did not disclose deadlines, volumes and other details.

He also noted that the Ukrainian leadership had previously held meetings on various areas of the defense sphere - from the use of correctable aerial bombs and drones to the introduction of fiber-optic technologies. Special attention was also paid to missile developments.

What is known about the Sapsan missile

"Sapsan" is an operational-tactical missile system being developed by a number of Ukrainian defense enterprises. According to unofficial data, the range of the missile reaches about 300 kilometers, and the mass of the warhead is about 480 kilograms.

Analyst Valentin Badrak in an article for liga.net said that, according to his information, in May this year, the first combat use of "Sapsan" - the missile successfully hit a military facility of the Russian Federation at a distance of about 300 kilometers.

Badrak paid special attention to the missile's combat power: its warhead weighs 480 kg - much more than the American PrSM for HIMARS, which has a warhead mass of only 91 kg.

In addition, according to him, the Sapsan demonstrated outstanding speed, comparable to the Russian Iskander and superior to American ATACMS missiles. This makes the domestic missile a strategically important element of Ukraine's defense potential both in the short and long term.
