Scientists are fleeing even to Armenia and Kazakhstan.
In recent years, Russia has been losing its scientific elite at a furious pace. Over 60,000 researchers have left the country in six years alone.
The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine reported this as reported.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia is losing about 1% of its scientists every year - such rates of "brain drain" have not been recorded since the late 1990s.
- Over 60,000 researchers have left the country in six years, most of all in the field of physics, computer science, astronomy and mathematics. The main countries of emigration are Germany, the United States, and Switzerland; new ones are Armenia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kazakhstan," the Foreign Intelligence Service said.
The reason for such emigration is that Russian scientists are physically eliminated, imprisoned, or subjected to absurd persecution.
The Foreign Intelligence Service notes that the Kremlin's policy is systematically destroying science.
- The scientific environment in Russia is sinking into isolation, fear, and degradation," the service added.
