Starmer explained the reason.
Britain is moving aircraft to the Middle East amid escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said this, according to Bloomberg.
"We are moving forces into the region, including fighter jets," Prime Minister Starmer told reporters while traveling to the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada.
The units heading to the Middle East include combat aircraft, refueling planes and additional Royal Air Force resources as part of Operation Shader in the Middle East, he said.
According to Iranian state media, Tehran has warned Britain, the US and France: if they help block Iran's drone missile response to Israeli attacks on nuclear facilities, the Iranian military will attack their military bases and ships.
In contrast to the US, Britain was not involved in intercepting Iranian drones last night, although it did so last year. Asked why London did not intervene this time, Starmer said he favors reducing tensions in the region.
"My clear position is that the situation needs to be de-escalated and that is what my talks are aimed at," Starmer said.
He also added that he discussed possible diplomatic ways to overcome the conflict with US President Donald Trump on Friday.
