The Iranian ruler was hidden in a bunker.

After the start of large-scale Israeli strikes on Iranian territory, the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was urgently evacuated to an underground bunker.

The Times of Israel reports with reference to diplomatic sources.

The sources say that the leader of the Islamic Republic, along with his family, was moved to a shelter in the Lavizan neighborhood in northeastern Tehran on the night of June 13. Khamenei had already been hiding in the same bunker during the missile attacks in April and October 2024.

It is noted that Israel deliberately did not eliminate Khamenei on the first night of the operation, giving him a "last chance" to completely abandon Iran's uranium enrichment program. The decision was part of a strategy of pressure to halt the development of Iran's nuclear capabilities.
