Ukraine Says It Does Not Rule Out Russian Provocations During Exercises In Belarus

Ukrainian border guards do not exclude that during the exercises in Belarus the occupants may resort to provocative or demonstrative actions towards the Ukrainian border.

This was stated by the speaker of the State Border Service Colonel Andrii Demchenko in the air of the telethon "Єдині новини", writes New Voice.

He specified that Ukraine continues to actively monitor the preparations of Russia and Belarus for large-scale exercises.

"There is preliminary information that they may be held more deep into the territory of Belarus, if we talk about the direction of the border with Ukraine. It is difficult for me to say what this is connected with. Perhaps Belarus has some concerns. As of now, there is no active phase of these exercises," he said.

He also added that at the moment there are no strike groups of the Russian Federation in Belarus, which would be formed to pose a threat to Ukraine. Border guards continue to closely monitor the situation to be ready for any scenario.

"At the same time, of course, the priority for us is to study the information that we can get on the active phase of joint exercises, because it is at this time that the risk to our country may increase. We cannot rule out some kind of demonstrative action in the direction of our border. But our main task is to be ready for the development of any situation," he concluded.
