Iran Strikes Israel For The First Time With Cluster Bomb Ballistics

The rocket was launched into central Israel.

The IDF Home Front Command said Iran launched at least one ballistic missile with a cluster warhead into central Israel on June 19.

It was reported by The Times of Israel.

According to Israeli officers, the missile's warhead separated during its descent at an altitude of about 7 kilometers, scattering about two dozen small munitions in a radius of about 8 kilometers.

The IDF clarified that the munitions did not have a separate engine and simply flew in a random direction toward the ground.

"One of the small munitions hit a house in the central city of Azor, causing damage comparable to that of a small rocket," Israeli officers said.

An Israeli military official told The Times of Israel that the cluster missile posed a threat to a much wider area than other Iranian ballistic missile warheads.

"Iran launched about 20 ballistic missiles at Israel this morning, four of which hit a target, including a house in Azor. Rockets with large warheads struck Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva and buildings in Ramat Gan and Holon, causing significant damage and injuring dozens of people," the IDF concluded.
