The number of drones violating the airspace of Belarus increased again in May compared to April, while Russian military transport planes landed at Homel airport, writes "Flagstaff".
At least eight cases of violation of the airspace of Belarus by drones were recorded in May. This is 2.5 times more than in April, when only three drones were spotted, but less than at the beginning of the year from January to March.
Drones penetrated the airspace of our country on May 6, 7, 11, 18 and 23 during the massive Russian attacks on Ukraine. Most often the drones moved in the dark from Chernihiv region and crossed the border along the Dnieper River in Brahynskyi and Loyevskyi districts.
In the last spring month, Russian aviation was also recorded in Homiel region - on May 23, 24 and 25, Russian Il-76 military transport planes landed two by two at Homiel airport. Their arrivals were related to the delivery and removal of prisoners of war during the exchanges between Russia and Ukraine at the Novaya Huta border crossing.
On May 27, Ukrainian monitoring channels reported the appearance of a radar detection plane based on the old Soviet Il-20 aircraft in the skies over Belarus. It was flying in the area of Volkovysk near the border with Poland. According to Ukrainian specialists, the plane was in the air for more than 4 hours. Reconnaissance aircraft are designed to locate enemy objects in the air, on land, water and to target or intercept them. Ukrainians perceived its appearance in the Belarusian sky as a threat.
June 1, the channel "Rinda Monitor" reported that 10 Russian drones flew into the airspace of Belarus on Sunday night. According to the "Flagstaff" publication, they were raising aircraft in Gomel region.
The drones flew into the Belarusian sky from the direction of Chernihiv region of Ukraine during Russia's massive attack on Ukrainian territory.
