A new POW exchange is being prepared.
Ukrainian and Russian delegations have finalized the second round of talks in Istanbul. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky told a press conference in Vilnius that a new prisoner exchange was being prepared.
"The talks in Istanbul have just concluded. I am just waiting for a full report from Mr. Umerov. They [the delegations] exchanged views and we are preparing a new exchange of prisoners of war," Zelensky said.
The June 2 meeting lasted just over an hour. The Russian state-run TASS news agency quoted a source as saying that there would be no continuation of the talks today and that the delegations would return home.
It is noted that during the talks, Russia and Ukraine discussed the exchanges in detail, which will be officially reported.
It should be noted that according to the head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, at the meeting Ukraine gave the Russians a list of children it wants to return home.
He said that they are talking about "hundreds" of children who were "illegally deported, forcibly relocated or held in the temporarily occupied territories" by the Russians.
"The return of Ukrainian children is an integral part of a just and lasting peace and a key element of trust, the first test for the sincerity of intentions," the head of the OP said.
A Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman said that the Russian and Ukrainian delegations went to lunch at the end of the meeting.
He said that the talks ended "not negatively".
