The West calls on the regime to release all prisoners of conscience.
Among the 14 foreigners, released by Belarus with the assistance of the United States, are three Polish citizens, two Latvians, as well as citizens of Estonia, Sweden, the United States and two Japanese.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland noted that the three political prisoners are Polish citizens, whose release was demanded by Warsaw. A representative of the Polish Foreign Ministry participated in the prisoner transfer procedure at the US Embassy in Vilnius.
The ministry thanked the administration of Donald Trump and Polish President Andrzej Duda for their assistance, and expressed hope that the visit of U.S. envoys - General Keith Kellogg, John Cole and Chris Smith - would be the first step toward the release of other detainees, particularly Andrzej Poczobut.
