Spain Called For The Release Of All Belarusian Political Prisoners

The Foreign Ministry reacted to the release of Sergei Tikhanovsky.

Spain welcomes the joyous news of the release of Belarusian opposition activist Sergei Tikhanovsky and thirteen other political prisoners and appreciates the diplomatic involvement of the United States in achieving this result.

The Spanish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"This release should be followed by the same outcome for more than a thousand Belarusian opposition activists who remain in the country's prisons simply for trying to realize their basic freedoms. Both they and their families deserve all the solidarity of the government and the people of Spain," emphasizes the Foreign Ministry.

The Ministry "remains firmly committed to democracy and human rights in Belarus."
