Vance Responded To Medvedev

The US vice president called the Russian politician's statement "bizarre".

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said one of the few things the U.S., Russia and China agree on is "they don't want a nuclear arms race in the Middle East."

In an interview with ABC Vance referred to a tweet by Dmitry Medvedev, former president and deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, who said that after a U.S. attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, the country would surely produce nuclear weapons and that "many countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads."

"Well, first of all, I think that's a strange answer, but I also don't know if this guy is speaking on behalf of President Putin or the Russian government," Vance said. "One of the things we've picked up in our conversations with the Russians over the last few months, despite our many disagreements with the Russian state, is that they've been very consistent in not wanting Iran to get nuclear weapons," he added
