Budapest said it "does not want to contribute to support for Ukraine."
Hungary and Slovakia have prevented the adoption of the EU's 18th package of sanctions against Russia, 24.hu reported on Monday, citing Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó.
"We have jointly with Slovakia prevented the adoption of the sanctions package," the minister said.
He noted that Budapest was "not ready to contribute" to financial support for Ukraine, as well as arms supplies to Kiev.
The European Commission submitted proposals for an 18th package of sanctions against Russia earlier in June. A "ceiling" on the price of Russian oil was reportedly considered both as part of this sanctions package and in the context of the recent G7 summit.
