SBU: Poland Detained A Saboteur Who Was Preparing An Attempt On Zelensky's Life

The Russian secret service agent was considering two options.

The Russians through their agents tried several times to kill Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. One of such episodes took place in the Polish city of Rzeszów.

The head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyliy Malyuk told this during a meeting with journalists. According to him, the Polish Internal Security Agency (ISA) helped to prevent the assassination attempt.

"A military pensioner, a Pole who was recruited decades ago, he piously believed in the Soviet idea and nurtured the intention for many years. That's why he - this 'canned' - was activated," said Malyuk.

The SBU head added that the killer considered two options for the attempt on Zelensky's life: the use of an FPV drone or a sniper complex. However, in the end, the Russian agent's plans were thwarted and he was detained together with Polish security services.

This is not the only attempt to kill the president, another one, about which Malyuk said, was organized by a colonel of the State Security Directorate. They wanted to carry out an attempt on Zelensky right on the territory of the Office of the President.

"From our side, it was a very difficult job. We were engaged in it for almost two years, in fact, since the beginning of the war. We made a powerful agent-technical penetration into this group. In addition to the attempt on the President, they collected information, passed it on, including preparing an attempt on my colleague Kirill Alekseevich Budanov and on me personally," the SBU head added.
