Trump's Candidate For NATO Chief Of Staff In Europe: Ukraine Can Win A War With Russian Federation

Alexus Grinkevich is a descendant of Belarusian immigrants to the United States.

U.S. President Donald Trump's nominee for the post of commander-in-chief of NATO forces in Europe, Lieutenant General Alexus Hrynkiewicz, believes Ukraine can win a war with Russia.

This was reported by USA Today on Tuesday, June 24.

"I think Ukraine can win," Hrynkiewicz said during a Senate hearing on June 24.

Also, he said, Ukrainians are fighting with a "tenacity that is hard for Americans to imagine."

As Charter97.org reported, the general's great-grandfather Ilya Grinkevich was born in 1873 in Minsk to Stepan (Stefan) and Agata Grinkevich. In 1899, he set foot on American soil, where he became Elias Grinkevitch. Later the surname in English-language documents began to be written as Grynkewich.

On October 7, 1906, Elias Grinkevitch married 22-year-old Anastasia Snigerevitch (Anastasia Snigerevitch, 1884-1945), a native of Vilnius, the daughter of Adam Snigerevitch, who had come to New York in 1901. They had four children. One of them, Nicholas Grynkewich (Nicholas Grynkewich, 1915-1969), became the grandfather of Lieutenant General Alexus Grynkewich.

By the way, the father of the military Gregory Grynkewich (Gregory Wayne Grynkewich, 1949-2012) was a famous scientist: he patented 14 inventions in the field of improving the performance and production of semiconductors.
