The country is introducing a pilot project: a shortened working day and a three-day weekend.
Poland is introducing a four-day work week with no loss in wages.
The project will start working in pilot mode at the end of June.
According to the local Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy, officials aim to reduce working hours by 20% per year.
It is known that employees will be able to choose their own comfortable working hours.
For example, to work six hours a day instead of eight. Another version is to rest three days a week instead of the existing two. You can also get additional days of vacation, while your salary will remain the same.
The first year of the program is allocated 10 million zlotys (about $2.7 million).
Employers will also be supported. They will be able to receive up to 1 million zlotys for the implementation of the new schedule. The money can be spent on changes to internal regulations, new timekeeping systems, and expert advice and assistance.
The pilot is expected to run for about a year and a half.
A recent Eurostat report showed that Poles work almost the hardest in the EU.
The working week here lasts 38.9 hours, while the EU average is 36 hours.
Spain, Germany, Iceland and Belgium, for example, have shortened working weeks of 35-38 hours. In France, after the introduction of a 35-hour week, GDP grew by 81%.
