Ukraine To Receive Hundreds Of Air Defense Missiles

For money from Russian assets.

Ukraine will receive 350 modern missiles for air defense systems from the UK. The missiles will be purchased with funds received from frozen Russian assets.

The announcement was made by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, RBC-Ukraine reported, citing the ministry.

"This has become possible thanks to the ERA program, which has raised more than 2 billion pounds from the proceeds of interest on frozen Russian assets. This is an important mechanism of justice - when an aggressor country pays for the consequences of its own war," it said.

The missiles will use surface-to-air missile systems specially designed for Ukraine's needs. Soon five more such SAMs will be transferred to the Armed Forces by British partners.

"Thank you to the British government, Prime Minister Kir Starmer, Defense Minister John Gillie and all partners who continue to strengthen Ukrainian air defense and help protect the lives of our citizens," Umerov added.
