Discussed strengthening air defense and pressure on the Russian Federation.
During the NATO summit, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky met with the leaders of the E5 format countries - Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Poland, as well as NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The head of state said this on Wednesday, June 25, in Telegram.
According to him, the main focus of the talks was on strengthening Ukraine's air defense. In particular, they talked about the supply of air defense systems and means of intercepting drones like Shahed.
Separately, the leaders discussed the strengthening of sanctions pressure on Russia. Zelensky noted that the Russian Federation continues active offensive actions and does not demonstrate intentions to stop the war.
That is why, according to him, it is necessary to work on the energy and banking sectors of the Russian Federation, against the shadow fleet and introduce secondary sanctions.
"It is important to support our people, our soldiers - really heroic people. Air defense, training missions with jets and new aid packages - thank you," the president wrote.
The Hague is hosting a summit of NATO leaders June 24-25 - the first under the leadership of Mark Rutte, the alliance's new secretary general and former Dutch prime minister. The main topic, as the media speculated, was probably the situation in the Middle East.
