Iran Has Officially Admitted For The First Time That The U.S. Has "severely Damaged" Its Nuclear Facilities

The country's Foreign Ministry speaker spoke about the implications.

Iran has officially confirmed severe damage to its nuclear facilities as a result of massive U.S. airstrikes on June 22.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said the country's nuclear facilities are "severely damaged," writes Bloomberg.

He said the attacks were not only an act of war, but also a "violation of international law" and the "Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty."

The Pentagon has yet to provide an official impact assessment, but intelligence reports suggest the strikes may not have hit key underground infrastructure such as centrifuges. That refutes statements by the administration of US President Donald Trump, who at a NATO summit called the operation the "destruction" of Iran's nuclear program and questioned intelligence analysis.

The Fordow facility, the main uranium enrichment center built under a mountain range, has come under particular scrutiny. IAEA chief Rafael Grossi said damage at the facility could be "very significant." Israel's Atomic Energy Commission said the US and Israeli strikes had significantly delayed Iran's ability to develop nuclear weapons - at least for several years.

The US military, according to satellite reports, deliberately bypassed the reactors in Isfahan, showing caution not to trigger a nuclear disaster.

With this backdrop, President Trump has secured a truce between Israel and Iran after 12 days of fighting. However, the situation remains extremely tense, with both sides sticking to the agreement only on the condition that the enemy does not violate it first. The US, meanwhile, scored a significant diplomatic victory - increasing military pressure while initiating a temporary ceasefire.
