Belarusians Massively Open IEs In Poland

Our compatriots are in second place among foreigners.

From January to April 2025, 13.7 thousand foreign nationals registered as individual entrepreneurs in Poland. This is written by the portal bezprawnik.pl, which studied data from CEIDG - the central register of information on economic activity in the country.

The Ukrainians unequivocally dominate - they accounted for 10798, or about 80% of all IEs opened by foreigners in the first four months of the year. The second place in this activity goes to Belarusians, who created 991 IEs. Then come the citizens of Germany (255), Russia, Romania, Italy, Great Britain (114), USA (109) and France (74).

Polish experts note that IEs created by foreigners are often necessary to fill gaps in the labor market. And also that without foreigners the shortage of personnel in some sectors of the country would be felt more than it is now.

According to the publication, foreigners register as self-employed in Poland, among other things, to bypass the barriers associated with full employment in the country. Opening a sole proprietorship allows, for example, not to face language problems and the unwillingness of Polish employers to recognize the qualifications of foreigners. IPs opened by foreigners have a positive impact on the Polish economy by creating jobs, investments, paying taxes and stimulating demand, economists emphasize.
