Lithuania also spoke out in a similar vein.
After reports appeared on social media that the United States allegedly promised Belarus to regain access to ports in Lithuania and Latvia, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silinja strongly stated that decisions on the operation of Latvian ports are made solely by the government, according to TVP.
"I can clearly say: decisions on ports are made by the Latvian government," Silinja said in a media interview on Wednesday.
No changes on sanctions
The Latvian prime minister assured that there were no changes on the sanctions imposed on Belarus. She also emphasized that the preservation of sanctions remains one of the key priorities of the Latvian government, including restrictions on the so-called "shadow fleet" of Russia.
"We cannot allow Russia to finance its military machine, which is also supported by Belarus," the Prime Minister said.
Lithuania also refutes rumors
In a similar vein, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kiastutis Budrys strongly denied the information that there are any talks on easing sanctions against Belarus.
