Lavrov Caught Up In Scandal Over The Name Of Israel's Chief Of General Staff

The Kremlin's diplomacy hits another bottom.

Yesterday, June 26, the foreign ministers of Russia and Laos met, followed by a joint briefing. Russian diplomacy in the person of Lavrov beat another bottom by ridiculing the surname of Israel's Chief of General Staff, Dialog.UA reported.

Lavrov raised the topic of recent events in the Middle East and commented on Eyal Zamir's words that the military operation against Iran has been postponed indefinitely until the issue with Hamas is resolved.

"Unfortunately, Zamir does not live up to his surname," Lavrov said and chuckled for the cameras.

The Kremlin also said Moscow favors Tehran's cooperation with the IAEA. Lavrov also recalled that the U.S. president also favors a political settlement of the conflict between Israel and Iran.

Eyal Zamir is chief of the Israel Defense Forces General Staff and has been in his post since March 5, 2025.
