A Top Official In Iran Suddenly "resurrected"
Ali Shamkhani

He made a public appearance in an unexpected place.

Senior Iranian official Ali Shamkhani, who was previously pronounced dead after Israeli strikes on Iran, appeared publicly at a state funeral in Tehran, finally refuting rumors of his death.

According to CNN , photos of the ceremony published by Iranian state media show Shamkhani's presence among other senior officials. He stands with a cane, surrounded by security guards, as he bids farewell to those killed in the recent 12-day conflict with Israel.

After massive Israeli airstrikes on June 13, reports emerged of the possible death of Shamkhani, a key adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian media subsequently denied these rumors, publishing a statement on his behalf with the phrase: "I am alive and ready to sacrifice myself."

Ali Shamkhani is a well-known figure in Iran's military and political structure. A former head of the Supreme National Security Council, ex-defense minister, and IRGC veteran, he also played a prominent role in diplomatic negotiations with the United States over Iran's nuclear program.

His sudden appearance raises new questions about the information manipulation that accompanies modern conflicts and highlights the opacity in determining casualties in hybrid warfare.
