Starmer On Meeting With Zelensky After The Fight With Trump: I Did Not Wait On The Steps, But Came Up And Hugged Him

The British Prime Minister told a touching story.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was the first European leader to greet Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in London immediately after his spat with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. He was trying to support Zelensky.

Starmer said he deliberately approached Zelensky when he first arrived at Downing Street.

"Normally I would have waited on the steps to greet him. But I did realize that he had left the White House on his own. So I walked up to him and kind of hugged him," the prime minister said.

He also walked Zelensky to his car at the end of the meeting. "I wanted him to know that my house is not left alone," Starmer added.
