One Hundred Kilograms Of Hashish Were Tried To Be Imported Into Belarus

Tried disguising it as pear puree.

Customs officers stopped the importation of about 100 kg of hashish from the European Union to Belarus. Lithuanians and Belarusians were involved in the movement of drugs, reports the State Customs Committee.

The truck of a Lithuanian carrier with the goods "concentrated mashed potatoes" arrived at the checkpoint "Kamenny Log" for registration. However, during the inspection of the truck customs officers found a large batch of hashish. 180 vacuum packs with the drug were hidden in the empty space under the floor of the truck.

The Customs Committee reports that the organizers of the criminal group were Lithuanians. Belarusians were also detained: they were taken into custody.

"Hrodna Regional Customs initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 10 years," the agency said.
