Details.
Germany and Israel want to create a so-called "cyber dome" as part of deepening defense cooperation. This would allow both countries to defend themselves effectively and in a coordinated manner against cyber threats.
The news agency Reuters wrote about this, citing a statement by German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt.
The deepening of cooperation between the intelligence and security services of the two countries also envisages the establishment of a joint German-Israeli cyber research center.
"Military defense alone is not enough for this first A significant renewal of civil defense is also essential to strengthen our common defense capabilities," Dobrindt said during a visit to Israel.
Dobrindt, recently appointed minister in Chancellor Friedrich Merz's government, outlined a five-point plan to lead to the creation of a so-called "cyberdome." It would be operated by German and Israeli security cyber units.
Germany is one of Israel's closest allies in Europe. Berlin seeks to use Israel's defense experience, as German military capabilities are now being actively built up, given the threats from Russia and China.
