Macron Will Meet With Meloni

The meeting will take place amid differences in support for Ukraine.

French President Emmanuel Macron will hold a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, where one of the main topics will be the Russian-Ukrainian war. This is reported by Reuters with reference to the Elysee Palace.

The leaders will discuss, among other things, security guarantees for Ukraine and issues of US duties during the talks. The meeting will take place amid disagreements over the issue of a "coalition of the willing" to support Ukraine.

Macron and Meloni also plan to discuss a trade agreement with Mercosur (the economic union of South America) and industrial cooperation between France and Italy.

Italian officials emphasize that the main purpose of the meeting is to strengthen bilateral relations, as well as to discuss the situation in the Middle East and Libya.
