Boryslav Bereza: Confusion Reigns In The Kremlin

Russia has never received such a slap in the face.
Within a few days, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted two daring operations - "Spider's Web," which included a powerful strike on Russia's strategic aviation, and a strike on the Crimean Bridge.
What consequences will these attacks have for the Russian Federation? About this and more, Charter97.org talked to Ukrainian politician and former Verkhovna Rada deputy Boryslav Bereza:
- There are several moments here at the same time. First, Russia has lost parity with the United States in the nuclear confrontation, because strategic aircraft are part of Russia's nuclear triad. And the sharp decrease in their number, as well as the reduction in the number of airborne radar planes, which are the eyes of this nuclear aviation, indicates that Russia's nuclear shield has become not only smaller, but also less effective.
But the most interesting thing is that everyone has again seen how the war that Russia started against Ukraine is already moving into the territory of the Russian Federation. Ukraine has shown that the Russian Federation is a colossus on clay feet. The operation conducted by the SBU will go down in the history of intelligence services on the same level as the recent Mossad operation against Hezbollah terrorists with pagers. Only if there was destroyed physical force, here - the defense capability of the whole country, the damage is estimated in billions.
And most importantly - Russia has never received such a slap in the face from anyone before. Although, it has already received many slaps from Ukraine - starting with the cruiser "Moscow" and ending with "Kiev in three days". So this is not the first time.
But one more point should be emphasized. Ukraine's special service, namely the SBU, has shown that it can act in a non-linear manner. When the Russians call it a terrorist attack, they are just blatantly hypocritical and lying. After all, a terrorist attack is when they bring these trucks with drones near Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Pulkovo and launch them at civil aviation.
And here it was done near military airfields, from which planes that bomb peaceful towns and villages of Ukraine take off. The very planes that fire missiles at hospitals, schools, kindergartens and residential houses of Ukrainians. So this is not terrorism at all, this is a retaliatory strike against those terrorists who used strategic aviation to nightmare the peaceful population of Ukraine.
- How is Russia reacting to these attacks?
- There is a very interesting situation here. The fact is that they are confused right now. Of course, there will be no quick layoffs - it will all be done a little later, after some time. But at the moment, in Russia itself, in the Kremlin, they have realized that they are ineffective and cannot resist such innovative actions.
Moreover, they are asking themselves the question: "What next?". For example, attacks on Russia's nuclear submarine fleet? On silo launchers? And what if it won't be Ukrainians, but some Wahhabis who will simply adopt this experience and use it? And what if it will be some other stories?
That is, there comes the realization that the people who are running Russia today can only lead to its collapse and defeat. For us, that's a good thing. But on the other hand, we must not forget that Russia will think how to change and defend itself.
This also speaks to another important point. Russia today does not know how to confront Ukraine, which is going the technological way. Russia is a country that fights with "meat," with terrorist methods, traditionally either destroying everything in its path or at the cost of huge casualties.
Ukraine, on the other hand, conducted a pinpoint operation, actually surgically precise, and showed that there were no accidental casualties. The only accidental victim was the driver of the car, but he was strangled by the Russians themselves, who once again showed their barbaric gut. And everything else clearly showed the incredible level of preparation and execution of this operation.
What will the Kremlin do now? Of course, there will be some resignations and new appointments. But, most likely, this will be used for war within the "Kremlin towers" - FSB, GRU, FSIN, FSO and so on - which are constantly competing with each other. They will fight for control over the flow of funds and power.
In Russia, there is talk again that Putin is not so strong if he allows such situations to happen. Again they talk about a successor, but who is he? The successor is Patrushev's son, who runs the FSB, and he is the one who slept through this situation. Maybe then the successor should be different?
That is, we are now witnessing the launch of chaotic processes within the Russian terrorist elites. And this is very useful for everyone: the more quarrels inside Russia, the closer it is to internal collapse.
- Will the view of the war change among Ukraine's international partners?
- Let's hope so. Ukraine has once again shown that Russia is not omnipotent. Russia can be damaged, and the main thing is that it can do nothing but attack with "meat".
- Will this affect the course of the negotiations?
- At the moment - no. The negotiations will be affected by a set of actions. It is like a jigsaw puzzle: only one part of it is visible so far. We need to simultaneously stop the enemy on the battlefield, stop his offensive. Only when the Russians realize that their offensive has stalled and their troops have been drained will they sit down to negotiate. Everything else is just elements of a puzzle: diplomacy, military strikes, actions of special services.
That is why this whole situation should be considered only in a complex. Real negotiations will begin only when the Russian offensive is smothered. Not before.
