The RF dictator pretended to be a "peacemaker" again.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Pope Leo XIV had a telephone conversation. The head of the Kremlin complained about Ukraine and demonstrated alleged readiness for peaceful dialog.
The Kremlin press service reported.
The Kremlin noted that Putin "at the request of Patriarch Kirill" conveyed to the pontiff wishes for success in pastoral ministry.
The parties also exchanged views on Russia's war against Ukraine during the dialog.
"Vladimir Putin reiterated his interest in achieving peace through political and diplomatic means and emphasized that for a final, fair and comprehensive resolution of the crisis, it is necessary to eliminate its root causes," the Kremlin wrote.
The Kremlin chief told the pope about the talks with Ukraine in Istanbul and agreements on the exchange of prisoners of war and bodies of the dead. The dictator added that Russia was allegedly taking "all possible measures" to reunite children with relatives.
The dictator also "expressed gratitude" to the pontiff for his willingness to help resolve the war.
At the same time, Putin complained about "sabotage against civilian infrastructure facilities," which Russia blames on Ukraine.
