Media reports say that the US president is annoyed by the billionaire's criticism.

US President Donald Trump is "losing patience" with American billionaire Elon Musk over his criticism of the tax and appropriations bill, which the White House chief himself calls "one big beautiful law."

This is according to The Wall Street Journal.

A senior White House official said Trump was unhappy with Musk's decision to criticize the law.

He said the president was puzzled as to why the Tesla chief decided to escalate his criticism after working so closely together for four months.

The official also said that Trump's senior advisers were caught off guard by Musk's latest outburst.

Sources also note that Trump and Musk's uneasy alliance was also undermined by the White House's recent decision to recall NASA chief nominee Jared Isaacman.

According to people close to him, Musk's frustration over the NASA episode led him to more aggressively criticize the tax bill.

When asked whether Trump and Musk continue to have a strong relationship, a White House official said it was too early to tell. The official said Trump can be forgiving, but he doesn't forget little things like this.
