The military leadership has a beef with Putin.
The head of the Committee of Economists of Ukraine Andriy Novak commented on the likelihood of a change of power in Russia as a result of a "palace coup".
"Palace coups can have different forms: it can be the physical elimination of their leader, it can be a resignation and a well-deserved vacation at a dacha, as it was with Khrushchev, it can be a military coup. After all, the military in Russia is suffering the most now, because there are huge losses among them. And the Russian military leadership sees and understands all this," he emphasized during a chat in "Glavreda".
The expert believes that a palace coup in Russia is much more realistic than a protest of the Russian population, which would lead to a change of power.
"A change of power in Russia requires a large-scale protest in Moscow. Now it is hard to imagine that Moscow will start a revolt. Unless the Ukrainian Armed Forces launch daily attacks on Moscow in response to the bombing of Kiev, in which case perhaps even Muscovites will ask the right questions and go to "take on the Kremlin." But I have very little hope for something like that, a palace coup looks more likely," he said.
The interlocutor also noted that there is hope for Russian businessmen, who are now suffering huge losses of their assets and are forced to endure huge restrictions on their movement around the world and personal sanctions.
"Those whose finances and comfort have suffered the most can get together and decide how to stop all this by changing Russia's foreign and domestic policy," Novak added.
