Media: Operation Spider Web Has Zeroed In On Zeus Lightning

SBU ahead of Putin's 'smash hit' on Ukraine.

Kremlin propagandists announced the most massive air strike on Ukraine a day before the special operation "Web".

The SBU allegedly thwarted the enemy's dangerous plans. This was brought to the attention of "Texts".

On May 30, the Russian propaganda publication "Bloknot" published a large article with the following headline: "Operation Zeus' Lightning: Putin has prepared a crushing blow to Ukraine in case Russia's demands in Istanbul are rejected - strategic bombers are waiting for the order."

Really, in those days OSINT experts observed anomalous activity on the airfields of the aggressor country's strategic aviation. The Russian Federation was pulling dozens of Tu-22M3 and Tu-95MS bombers to Olenya and Engels bases, preparing for a massive attack.

In the face of the Kremlin's grandiose plans, disguised under the pathos name "Zeus Lightning," Ukraine not only stood its ground - it delivered a blow that rewrote the rules of modern air warfare.

While Russian propaganda was trumpeting an impending "unprecedented" missile attack, threatening Kiev with a "crushing blow" if it refused the ultimatums, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was already preparing its own, far more effective and daring operation called "Spider's Web."

Kremlin propagandists were colorfully describing how Russian dictator Putin had "prepared a crushing blow" to Ukraine. According to their version, dozens of Tu-22M3 and Tu-95MS strategic bombers were concentrated at the Olenya and Engels airfields.

Not shying away from epithets, they predicted a "limitless missile strike" that would "show the West how a potential conflict with Russia would turn out for it." It was noted that up to 40 Tu-22M3s (out of the 60 available to the Russian Federation) were transferred to Olenya, as well as dozens of other strategic vehicles, including Tu-95MS and Tu-160s, to Engels.

Aerodromes were allegedly buzzing with activity, receiving transport Il-76s with new missiles, that "such activity has not been seen in three years." The Kremlin openly threatened to "end the active phase as hard and fast as possible" if Ukraine refused the proposed memorandum.

But these threats, filled with bravado and exaggeration, fell apart as early as June 1. On that day, Ukrainian forces carried out an unprecedented operation "Spider's Web," targeting four key Russian strategic aviation airfields at once: Belaya, Dyagilevo, Olenya and Ivanovo.

The result of this jewel-like work by the SBU was a cold shower for Russian strategists. According to the Ukrainian security services, 41 aircraft were hit in the attack, including rare and valuable A-50 airborne radar planes, as well as Tu-95, Tu-22M3 and Tu-160 strategic bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons. Ukraine was able to neutralize about 34% of strategic cruise missile carriers at their main bases.

This operation did not just reduce the threat of future missile attacks, it undermined the very foundation of the "missile baton" that the Kremlin is trying to blackmail Ukraine and the West with.
