Because of immigration violations.
The world's most popular tiktoker Habi Lame was detained by the U.S. immigration service last week.
It was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to France24.
It was learned that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained 25-year-old Italian citizen Seringe Habane Lame at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on June 6. The reason for the detention was a violation of immigration law.
The detention statement said that Lame entered the United States on April 30 and "exceeded the expiration date of his visa."
It is known that the tiktoker was released the same day and has now left the United States.
Note that Lame is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and has over 162 million followers on TikTok. Guy ranks first in the number of followers on the social network TikTok.
He has gained fame for his short silent videos in which he mocks the confusing tutorials and advice that abound on the Internet.
He emphasizes his videos with his signature gesture - palms turned to the sky, accompanied by a meaningful smile and wide-open eyes - offering his own simple remedies.
According to Forbes, his publications helped him earn an estimated $16.5 million from June 2022 to September 2023 alone.
Changes in migration policy in the US
Remember that American President Donald Trump in his presidential campaign promised to significantly change the US migration policy, making it tougher.
With this background, on April 20, it became known that the US Supreme Court temporarily halted the deportation of a group of men from Venezuela, who are accused of gang ties. At the same time, the Trump administration insisted on deportation.
It was also reported that in April, the US presidential administration deported to a maximum security prison in El Salvador more than 200 Venezuelan and Salvadoran men whom the White House considers gang members.
And earlier this month, Trump banned citizens from 12 countries from entering the United States.
