The consequences of further fighting with Ukraine could be suicidal for the Russian Federation.
Ukrainian political analyst and publicist Vitaliy Portnikov considers the fact that during a year and a half of preparation, information about the SBU's plans was not leaked to Russia to be the main achievement of Operation Web. This suggests that the Ukrainian security services have completely freed themselves from Russian control.
The political observer recalled the events of recent years, when Russia had influence on the Ukrainian leadership:
"We had citizens of the Russian Federation sitting in the reception room of the Prime Minister of Ukraine (now Russian academician Azarov), who controlled his meetings and his agenda, and so it was with many people from the Prime Minister to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, the head of the SBU and so on. Of course, it is very easy to defeat such a country, because the Chief of General Staff or the Prime Minister himself will inform you about every step, and here it turned out that you cannot find out about the operation, which is the most important for you, because it is directed against your strategic objects. This is a catastrophe of catastrophes".
Afterwards, Vitaly Portnikov pleased Ukrainians with good news: "This really means that Ukraine is lost to Russia, and it cannot be a satellite country, because a satellite country that does not have agents in the special services is ungovernable. Such a country can either be left alone or destroyed. There is no other outcome. I would certainly advise the Russians to leave alone, because the consequences of further fighting with Ukraine could be suicidal for Russia as a state institution, given what happened at the airfields."
