Finland Will Host NATO's First Air Exercise "Atlantic Trident" For The First Time

Finland will host the first NATO Atlantic Trident 25 (Atlantic Trident) air exercise with the participation of at least 40 aircraft and a thousand soldiers from June 16-27, the Finnish Air Force website (Suomen ilmavoimat) reported.
"Atlantic Trident" is a joint exercise of three member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance: the United States, Britain and France. They take place every two years, this time it will be held outside the three countries for the first time.
"The air forces of Finland, the United States, Britain and France will jointly practice the mobile combat approach, cross support capabilities and cooperation between fleets of fourth and fifth generation fighter jets," the report said.
According to a press release from the Finnish Air Force Command, along with Finnish F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets, American F-35A Lightning II and F-15E Strike Eagle, KC-135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft, as well as British Typhoon and French Rafale fighters will take part in Atlantic Trident 25. They will be joined by E-3F long-range radar detection aircraft, A400M transport aircraft and NH90 helicopters.
The aircraft will take off from airbases in Finland: Tikkakoski in Jyväskylä, Satakunta in Pirkkala and Rissala in Kuopio. Finnish ground forces' air defense units will also be involved in the exercise.
