Volunteer Nikolai Ilyin Will Be Remembered In Warsaw
Nikolai Ilyin

A fighter with the call sign "Estonian" died defending Ukraine.

Belarusian volunteer, citizen of Estonia Nikolai "Estonian" Ilyin, died on July 13, 2020 at the age of 36 in eastern Ukraine, fighting on the side of the Ukrainian armed forces.

In Warsaw, an event will be held in memory of the Belarusian volunteer.

Nikolai was previously an activist of "Zubr" and "Young Front," which led to persecution and emigration, the leader of the solidarity movement "Razam" Vyacheslav Sivchik told "Radio Racyja":

- Nikolai Ilyin's fate is the fate of hundreds of thousands of Belarusians who were forced to leave the country. I would like to remind you that Nikolai was forced to leave Belarus back in the distant 2006 after the violent dispersal of Kastus Kalinowski Square. Nikolai Ilyin received higher education in Estonia, and then the citizenship of this country.

The ceremony in memory of Nikolai Ilyin will be held on July 13 at St. Alexander's Church in Warsaw on Three Crosses Square at 12:30 in the John Paul II Auditorium.
