This was the most important and interesting discovery in the history of excavation.
Archaeologists found a fragment of amphora with Scandinavian runes on the Menka River. This is reported by BelTA.
Archaeological excavations have been conducted by the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on the bank of the Menka River near the village of Gorodishche since June. Since then, about a hundred artifacts have been found.
"But it is important to take into account that there are individual finds, i.e. artifacts, and there are mass finds, such as fragments of ceramics. If we take ceramics, several thousand pieces have already been found. The most important and interesting find remains a fragment of amphora with Scandinavian runes, discovered recently," said the head of the Department of Archaeology of the Middle Ages and Modern Times of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Andrei Voitekhovich.

The finds also include household items - several keys from locks, five arrowheads and an ornament - a temporal three-bead ring.
