The dictator began with a strange exclamation.
On July 12, Alexander Lukashenko met with former Moldovan President Igor Dodon, who has been in trouble with the law in his homeland, and through him conveyed an appeal to the country's citizens "not to rush into any unions."
According to Lukashenko's press service, the dictator greeted Dodon in his office at the Palace of Independence with an exclamation: "Alive!".
"They won't wait!" - The latter replied.
In the course of the meeting, Lukashenko complained that Moldova's residents "have been torn away from us by war, unfortunately," and "logistics have become more complicated," but "there are no hopeless situations."
It should be noted that Igor Dodon now heads the pro-Russian Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, which is in stiff opposition to official Chisinau.
The dictator, through his guest, gave Moldova "the advice of an ancient politician":
- Don't rush into any alliances (we are talking about the European Union. - Note), no one is waiting for you anywhere, - urged Lukashenko.
Reminder, the dictator has previously expressed his idea "you are not welcome anywhere" to other countries that seek to strengthen ties with the West. For example, Armenia, where such a passage caused a scandal.
We shall remind you that Igor Dodon served as president of Moldova in 2016-2020. Alexander Lukashenko repeatedly called him his friend.
Also Dodon, having already lost the election to Maya Sandu, came on an unofficial visit to Lukashenko in May 2021. The latter showed him his country residence.
Dodon was detained on May 24, 2022 and sent under house arrest. He was charged under four articles of the Moldovan Criminal Code: "Passive corruption", "Receipt of funding by a political party from a criminal organization", "Illegal enrichment" and "High treason".
On November 18, 2022, the former Moldovan president was released from house arrest.
