Trump is calling for the bill to be finalized.
Work on the bill on "bone-crushing" sanctions against Russia in the US Congress has intensified amid public discontent with Donald Trump the Russian dictator. About it writes Reuters with reference to informed sources.
According to one of the publication's interlocutors familiar with Trump's position, the text of the bill still needs to be finalized. In its current form, the document does not give the US president enough flexibility in applying sanctions without regard to the position of Congress. The White House is now working with the bill's authors to give Trump more freedom in applying the law once it is approved by the US parliament.
A spokesman for Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the bill's two authors, told Reuters that the document would probably not begin to be considered until July 21, as Congress has more important priorities right now. However, one house of Congress will go on recess as early as August, so the time to pass the bill will be "extremely limited."
In the meantime, U.S. allies are looking forward to Monday as Trump has promised to make a "big announcement" on Russia that day, Reuters wrote. However, they are still plagued by doubts about whether Trump has given up on trying to establish good relations with Russia and how much he is really willing to put Lindsey Graham's bill into practice.
