"The Kremlin's Attitude Toward Its Army Could Be A Marker For The Collapse Of The Russian Federation"

Russia's losses are enormous.

Russia's losses in Ukraine have reached horrifying levels - more than 100,000 dead since the beginning of 2025. The occupiers are losing up to a thousand people a day, while the Kremlin continues to throw soldiers to the front as "cannon fodder."

The Russian authorities do not even try to hide the fact that military lives are expendable. This was told by Ukrainian military observer Denis Popovych.

- The huge losses of the Russian army on the front were also told by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. According to him, just since the beginning of this year Russian losses amounted to 100 thousand soldiers killed, not counting the seriously wounded. Of course, the Russian Federation will deny such figures. But if you calculate the data of the Ukrainian General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) for the first months of this year, these figures will be quite comparable to those mentioned by Rubio," Popovich said.

He said that Rubio, voicing the figure of Russian losses, just wants to show what the scale of Russia's war against Ukraine really is.

- Rubio also called the losses on the Ukrainian side. They are significantly less. What is Rubio's point? We must recognize that Rubio, in principle, has always been quite pro-Ukrainian. Although as U.S. Secretary of State he followed in the fairway of Donald Trump's policy, which in the first six months implied concessions to the Russian Federation in order to bring it to the negotiating table.

Now we see that Trump is reorienting himself. He's realized that it doesn't work that way. That's why Rubio is now citing numbers about Russian casualties, so that there is an understanding of the scale of the war, and why this war needs to be stopped. So he's also trying to support Trump's policies, but he's explaining the extent of Russian Federation's unreasonableness. Russia's losses are huge, but at the same time it behaves unreasonably, it does not want to go for the peace proposals that Trump has voiced," the military observer explained.

He noted: the Russian leadership does not consider the losses and uses people as a resource to achieve its goals.

- The main goal is to force Ukraine to accept the terms of the Russian Federation. But one thing is the position of the leadership, another thing is the position of the Russian military. That is, the moral and psychological state of the Russian army, of the people who are at war, is a somewhat different story. It does not depend on the wishes of the Russian leadership, on its thoughts and plans. It is clear that the moral and psychological state will be undermined.

People see that their comrades go to the assault and 10-20% of the original troops return. All this may sooner or later play a cruel joke, and the Russian army will simply collapse. Only one small marker is needed.

I remember in early 1917, before the February Revolution, there were no signs that the army of the Russian Empire would collapse. There were no signs of revolution. And some detail happened - bread was not delivered to the shops in Petrograd in time - and the revolution began. So everything can be, everything is possible, - stated Denis Popovich.
