Previously unknown details of the 12-day war have surfaced.
An Israeli Air Force F-15 fighter jet miraculously avoided an emergency landing during the 12-day war against Iran.
It was reported by Channel 12 of Israeli TV.
The Israeli fighter jet had a problem with its fuel tank during one of its airstrikes while it was near Iran. The malfunction caused a significant fuel shortage during the mission.
"The pilot, who was in Iranian territory, noticed the fuel problem and had to report it in real time. At this stage, unlike some previous sorties, no refueling aircraft escort was planned, but given the seriousness of the situation, it was decided to conduct an unscheduled refueling," Channel 12 reported.
At the same time, a plan was devised in case the refueling aircraft failed to reach the malfunctioning fighter in time. In this case, the plane was to make an emergency landing in a "neighboring country" to avoid the risk of landing on Iranian territory.
It is specified that thanks to clear coordination it was still possible to eliminate the malfunction and complete the attack without deviating from the course.
