Brains are more important than brute force.

The only strategy of victory for Ukraine in the war unleashed by the aggressor country Russia is not only to work on the front line, but also to create a system of "resilience" of the country and asymmetric capabilities based on technology.

This opinion was expressed by the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ambassador Extraordinary of Ukraine to the UK Valeriy Zaluzhny in the foreword to the book by journalist Roman Roman Romaniuk "What will be fought in the Third World". An excerpt from this preface, which the ex-head wrote in the fall of 2024, was published by "Ukrainska Pravda" on July 13.

According to Zaluzhny, the military-technological revolution has already begun, and this creates conditions for a type of military conflict such as a war of attrition.

"The strategy of war will be aimed not so much at capturing territory as at depleting the enemy's resources and capabilities, creating chaos and, as a consequence, destroying the nation's ability to resist," Zaluzhny writes.

Analyzing the strategy of Ukraine's victory, the ex-head commander of the AFU emphasizes that the formation of state resilience and asymmetric capabilities based on technological solutions is possible only with unconditional control of the situation at the front and countering information threats.

"Not just resilience, but a decisive and timely response is the key to our victory. We have a completely new war ahead of us. A war according to new rules," emphasizes Valeriy Zaluzhny.

But, notes the former head of the AFU, the Ukrainians have shown what they are capable of. Even in the new war, Zaluzhny noted. He also expressed confidence that a fundamentally new doctrine of modern warfare is being formed on the Russian-Ukrainian war front.

Resuming, Valeriy Zaluzhny emphasized that he fully supports the opinion of national security, foreign policy and terrorism expert Sean McFate, who points out that "half of Victory is understanding what it looks like... Brains are more important than brute force."
