This year's Navy Day in Vladivostok will be held without a parade of ships, fireworks and celebrations at the water station, RBC reports citing the press service of the Pacific Fleet. Thus, only wreath-laying and a concert will remain in the holiday program. "This year the Day of the Navy across the country will be held in a modified format - without the traditional parade of ships and fireworks," - explained in the press service.
It became known earlier that in St. Petersburg canceled the Main Naval Parade, which was to be held on Navy Day. This holiday is celebrated on the last Sunday of July and this year falls on July 27.
Parades of warships on Navy Day have been held annually since 1939, except during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). In 2024, the Kronstadt portion of the parade in St. Petersburg was canceled due to the threat of an air attack. Northern Fleet ships had reportedly already arrived in St. Petersburg, but left a few days before the parade to return to base.
