They are closely linked to criminal groups in Russia.
Censor.NET editor-in-chief Yuriy Butusov told new details about the hitmen who killed SBU colonel Ivan Voronich in Kiev on July 10 and were liquidated on July 13.
On his page in Facebook Butusov said the evidence of the involvement of the liquidated Russian agents is as compelling as possible because "the Russians used them as disposable" and they were indeed found in hot pursuit.
"The Russians would not have taken them for exchange, they have no value for the FSB, they acted for money and knew nothing except the customer. Therefore, both were liquidated when they tried to resist and escape," the journalist said.
He also said that the perpetrator of the murder was named Gulalizada Khagani, and his accomplice was Narmin Guliyeva.
Butusov noted that Khagani and Guliyeva had Azerbaijani passports but were actually closely linked to criminal groups in Russia.
"Guliyeva entered Ukraine on May 15 from Moldova through the Mayaki-Udobnoye crossing point. Khagani tried to cross the state border officially at the same Mayaki-Udobnoye crossing point on February 27, 2025. But since he was listed as a mafioso in the databases of Ukrainian law enforcement officers, he was officially denied entry into Ukraine and banned from entering until 2030. That is, the killer appeared and acted in Ukraine illegally," the journalist said.
He also explained that Ivan Voronich became the target of the killers because the Russians wanted to take revenge on him for the fact that he was one of the heads of the 5th department of counterintelligence of the SBU, which was created in 2015 for sabotage operations in the temporarily occupied territories and killed "dozens of the most famous commanders of the Russian troops and special services." At the same time, Butusov noted that at the time of the murder Voronich had already served in another SBU unit for several years.
