Putin is undermining the Russian economy.
American President Donald Trump has accused Russian dictator Vladimir Putin of destroying Russia's economy for his own geopolitical ambitions.
Trump said this during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
He said Russia is increasingly losing both economically and morally because of the war against Ukraine.
"We know how Russia's economy is suffering. Putin knows it very well - he is undermining his economy. So let him think about his country. He has destroyed many countries because of his ambitions," Trump said.
He noted that Russia has a "huge potential" for trade with the United States, but that potential is being used for war.
"I think it would not be very good from Putin's point of view to get his country's economy destroyed. He has to save his economy. In a way he can save his country. But [Russia's] economy could collapse. It's potentially a big country. And the '50 days' is a threat. It's going to hit very hard," the American leader asserted, referring to the duties.
Trump said that at a certain stage, it is necessary to stop trying to negotiate and move to decisive action: "At a certain point, it's clear - enough is enough. We have to act."
He also mentioned the possibility of reaching a peace agreement within 50 days and signaled Putin.
"I hope Putin will take this seriously. He knows the agreement that can be attentive to within 50 days, and he knows what a fair timeframe might be. If he doesn't agree, he's just a loser," Trump added.
