Moscow's reaction was voiced by Peskov.
Russia commented on the statement of US President Donald Trump, who threatened to impose tough sanctions against Moscow if a peace agreement with Ukraine is not reached within 50 days.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Russia's TASS.
The press secretary of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin Dmitri Peskov acknowledged the seriousness of the US leader's statements, but noted that the Kremlin's official position will be announced later.
"The US president's statement is quite serious. Something in it is addressed to President Putin personally. We certainly need time to analyze what was said in Washington. And if and when President Putin deems it necessary, he will certainly comment on it. I would not like to get ahead of ourselves, so let's wait for Putin's decision whether he will comment on it himself," Peskov said.
At the same time, the Kremlin criticized Kiev's reaction to the initiative from Trump. Peskov states that "the Ukrainian authorities perceive this situation not as a chance for peace."
Putin's press secretary also said that Moscow is allegedly waiting for Kiev's proposals to hold a third round of peace talks.
